INTERNET SAFETY FOR YOUNG PEOPLE GETS A NEW PARTNER!
As the news media continues to stress the importance of parents monitoring their children while on the Internet, a significant step forward has been announced. PATH (Pupils Asking, Teacher Helping), the Internet’s newest Homework Help site has announced that it will partner with WHOA (Working to Halt Online Abuse - http://www.haltabuse.org) to assure the safety and security of the students who utilize the new service.
WHOA has been in existence for some time and has enjoyed great success in monitoring Internet sites while improving its services to keep the Internet as safe as possible for young people. Parents across the country sing the praises of this dedicated group in ferreting out problem areas that would cause problems. As would be predators continue to find ways to bypass all safeguards put into place by service providers and to thwart improvements to commercial software designed to protect computers and their users, WHOA has managed to keep pace by utilizing a network of dedicated individuals who patrol the Internet constantly in a neverending campaign to make this superhighway to the future safe for its users.
PATH is delighted to utilize the services of this significant organization in assuring parents of the safety and security of its live rooms where students receive individual assistance with homework questions as well as with the message boards and email service available for students. In addition to the background check which every PATH teacher undergoes before being placed in the position of helping students, the efforts of WHOA underscore the commitment to student safety and security in this brand new service.
Parents and students will appreciate this union. Upon entry to PATH’s area, users will be advised of the union with WHOA with an explanation and commitment to student safety and security. Students will likely never be aware of the efforts being undertaken on their behalf by these two services; however, parents and teachers alike will rejoice in the efforts to provide students with quality assistance and a safe Internet experience. The volunteers of these two services are to be commended.
In addition. WHOA will periodically be conducting online classes for parents teaching them how to protect their children while still allowing access to the Internet. Parents will be given the tools needed to assure that their children utilize all of the wonderful information available while still being protected. These classes will be conducted free of charge as a part of WHOA's committment to providing as much help as possible to assure all children of a safe and secure Internet experience. PATH is delighted to partner with this significant group |
